Antitrust raises possible discount for Russian Railways to 50%
MOSCOW, Dec 1 (PRIME) -- The Federal Antimonopoly Service will extend the discount that Russian Railways is allowed to provide on transportation of cargoes of the second and third classes to 50%, the service said in a statement Thursday.
In 2013, Russian Railways received the right to differentiate its tariffs between a 12.8% cut and a 13.4% increase until early 2017. The company introduced the maximum surcharge on exports of all types of cargo, including coking coal, in January 2015. Later, the possible discount was expanded to 25%.
“The service provides Russian Railways with a possibility of the most flexible pricing policy so that the company is able to attract the highest volumes of cargo to its railroads,” the service said in the statement.
